William Woods Announces Spring 2017 Dean's List
William Woods University is proud to report that a total of 221 students were named to the Dean's List for academic excellence during the 2017 spring semester. To be included on the Dean's List, a student must be full-time and have achieved a minimum 3.6 semester and cumulative GPA on a 4.0 scale. Local students graduate from Fort Lewis College
In a ceremony on Saturday, December 17, 2016, more than 200 Fort Lewis College graduates and their families packed Whalen Gymnasium for Fall Commencement. The speaker chosen to offer the Commencement Address was Leslie Goldstein, senior lecturer in the FLC Freshman Math Program and winner of the FLC Alice Admire Outstanding Teaching Award.

Local students attended SACNAS National Convention
Faculty from Chemistry, Biology, and the MARC U*STAR program attended the SACNAS (Society for the Advancement of Chicanos/Hispanics and Native Americans in Science) National Convention in Long Beach, Calif. with 30 Fort Lewis College students studying the STEM disciplines. The students' trip to the conference was funded by NIH program SSNAP (Science Scholars: The Native American Path).

Local students attended National Collegiate Leadership Conference
Local students attended the National Collegiate Leadership Conference at the University of Tucson on February 12-14, 2016. It regularly attracts 600 students from around the nation. The conference features over 90 workshops, community service projects, teambuilding and networking events, and motivational speakers. Many of the workshops are given by emerging college leaders and cover an array of topics, including leadership for civic engagement, leadership for social justice, leadership and technology, and best practices. The Leadership Center has been taking students to this conference since 2009, in partnership with financial support from other departments such as the Native American Center, El Centro de Muchos Colores, and Diversity Programming.
